Well!

In my shower thoughts yesterday, the suggestion came up to be more regular with my blogging, so here I am.  I guess I owe an explanation for my absence...maybe not owe, but maybe just an explanation/update would be the better.

I got myself real busy in October.  I started posting a new Critter almost every day.  I found a new selling platform called Ko-fi and I really like it, it has a feature where I set the lowest price I will take, the purchaser has to ability to pay more if they choose to.  So far I've only had one person do that in a major way, which just happened to come in exactly when I needed a little extra.  I love how the Universe works like that.

So, posting every day, sharing my posts...the new selling platform...it went off big for me!  I sold 9 Critters in one day!  Granted I am charging a third of what I should be selling them for, but what good are they just sitting here gathering dust?  I am happy to sell them, the extra cash comes in handy, I count each and every sale as a blessing!

Anyway, all my daylight hours were spent on stitching and stuffing, and taking care of the boys every need and whimsy now and then, evenings were spent leaning back on a heating pad.  Oh my back sometimes.  I sold quite a few Critters at the end of 2024, like I said, a blessing.,

This was one of my very favorites from 2024.

I keep getting a spam notice saying my FB page doesn't meet requirements or some kind of infraction, which makes my page ineligible for recommendations.  Pffft.  I just archived everything in my FB shop, can't even tag my products there anyway, so what's the point?

This link should take you to my ko-fi shop.
If not:  www.ko-fi.com

I've been enjoying creating posts for my critters at Canva.  I am thinking about taking the plunge and joining over there, they do have some nice graphics and elements for designing.

So there you are for now.  Go on by and take a look at my new shop if you have a couple minutes, you can follow me over there, too.  I'm still posting on FB and Insta.

The boys, Greg and Brad, are good.  Greg still has an attitude but I don't call him the "D" word (where he can hear me) anymore, because that just pisses him off.  Brad is a big black panther, that turns into a big glop of black goo when I try to move him from where he wants to be, which is usually on top of whatever it is I am working on at the time he feels he needs some attention.

Weird Week

I don't know if it's the Lunar Eclipse tomorrow that's got me a little off balance, but I've been kinda scattered in the brains and emotions since Thursday.

I've done a little hand stitching, mainly just to keep my hands busy, no real project to work on.

I took a few of my Critters to a new Maker's Market that opened here in town, ran by a local guy and his wife.  Hopefully I will sell them and be able to rent a booth space.  That's how I am picturing it in my mind, that people will see my Critters and/or my burnings, and want to own them.

That will give me the incentive to create some more, right now I have too many that need homes.

It's always important to keep our vibrations high.

Say your prayers, and Play Nice!  xxoo

It's March!

I made a couple of Critters in February.  I made a solo trip to Hobby Lobby one day, honestly I was going that direction anyway for another errand, so why not?  I was just going to shop the clearance and sales, which I pretty much did, but I splurged on a couple pieces of faux leather.  Yes, I have faux leather at my house, but this was the perfect color, I thought, for this.

It's a Great Dane!
I love this breed, and would have one again if I had a yard.

Then I made another one, in felt.
I call her, Posie.

There is a new Maker's Market in my tiny town, but it's right off the freeway, so I'm thinking about setting up a display there.  I have this rack that I used with my burnings, so I thought I would try using it for my Critters.

I wasn't quite happy with that, so I cut some strips of felt to line the racks, I haven't set it up again, as I, for some unknown reason, put it back in the very back of my storage closet, so I gotta drag everything out again.  Ugh.  I don't know if I have brains or oatmeal sloshing around in my skull sometimes.

My computer monitor glitched after 25 years of faithful service, so I've connected my computer to my TV.  It'll do for now.  Better than nothing, and I'm not a fast phone typer.

Greg and Brad are doing so great, I got them a cat tree and put it together by myself!

So, that's us pretty caught up.  Leave me a comment, please, if you are here reading this, and do a little clickety click over to  my FB page, Handmade by Cosmo.   You can click on my shop, too, if you want.

Blocked

I seem to find myself with a blockage in my creativity.

I spoke of this before, and while I did try to not work on anything, it's very hard for me to sit still and not be doing something with my hands.  Apparently this is a lesson/practice that I need to work on?

I have to remember that I am in a new life now.  I don't have to depend on selling my creations to supply the vices that I no longer have.

I have to remember that I am making it all on my own now, and remind myself that I'm doing well.

In saying this, I am allowing myself to unschedule from self-imposed deadlines.

My FB Shop is up and running, and there is content in it.  I'll continue to add items as they become available.  And I'm pretty much always up for a custom project, for sure.

I'm gonna give myself a moment to think about this, give myself a little re-boot.

I can almost feel my creativity starting to bubble a little bit.

And in that regard, in my life I have found that if I take the time to put my thoughts in writing, it seems to clear up some space in my brain to think some different thoughts.  It's like I get a loop going in there, thinking the same things over and over and over until I write them down.  Like my brain knows now that it's written down I won't forget.

My thoughts are fleeting these days, too.  I gotta write them down quickly, or else I will remember that I wanted to remember something, but I'll be danged if I can remember what that was!  So frustrating.  I mean, eventually some of those thoughts come back, but I'm sure not all of them.  Like Shower Thoughts.

Sometimes I get the best ideas, and I think there's no way I will not remember them, yet I do.  I know they were great ideas, I remember how I felt when I thought them.

Ah well, I can't blame that one on age, I've always been like this.  I have so many notebooks filled with such thoughts.

Greg and I have had a couple of play times, he's ran the circle around here, climbing up on the top of the pantry in that circle at least twice.  I think we are both maybe just a little bored?  He doesn't know it but I have an order going in to Temu this week, and he's getting a bunch of new toys!  He won't get them all at once, of course.  He's also getting a large container of Temptations, because he loves to learn new tricks.  On his own time, as that is the cat way.

Just putting things in different places is something different to explore.
And nap.

PS  I almost forgot the weather report!  A beautiful rainy/thunderstormy morning.  Lost of cool breeze blowing in the windows.  But this afternoon and the rest of this week?  Almost triple digits!

As I sit here

on a Friday evening, watching the storm roll in...I started thinking about how blessed I am and thought I would share real quick.

I went to the Food Pantry this afternoon, (Mary had to work) and got some things that I have been wanting but didn't need.  Also, some bath soap (wonder how I will like smelling like a Lemon?), toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner...

I'll be running some errands tomorrow morning, picking up a grocery order, a couple of other stops, then I'll be home.  Tomorrow weather will be clear, and more rain expected on Sunday.  I love it.

(typed July 14th)

July 20th

Nothing much out of the ordinary has happened in the last few days.  I shared some stuff Food Pantry stuff with her.  Shared some with the boys as well.  Also with a neighbor here in my complex, and with a guy in a parking lot, who gave me 3 homegrown tomatoes in exchange.

I'm having I guess it could be called a creative block.  I have ideas, and I've started a few projects, but not motivated to actually finish.  So I am putting everything away in a drawer for a couple days...do some thinking and make some notes...like a brain dump.  Something up in that brain of mine is clogging my creativity, gotta jiggle that loose.  Been here before, it'll work out.

I've been pretty faithful in posting to FB and Insta on a daily basis, posting products, and have re-opened my FB shop.  Populating it a little every day.  Gonna have to splurge on a better desk and chair, though, because this set up is too cramped for me.

Since Mary couldn't go to the Pantry, and since she had to get ready for work, I had an hour to kill before I had to get in line.  I stopped in at our local flea market, and found an awesome old chest of drawers that I am going to get next week to replace the tall dresser that I have.  The bottom three drawers of the dresser I have are a bitch to open and close (it was purchased by my grandparents in 1944 and I have been dragging it along with me for the last 40 years).  Young Son is going to take it.  I'm pretty excited about that.  Come on Payday, and I don't mean the candy bar.

Less than $100!
And it's low to the ground.
Hopefully Greg won't loose any toys under there.  Ha!

Speaking of Greg...
That's my boy, lounging in a Longaberger Basket.

P.S.  We did have some weather this weekend and Monday...big baseball hail in some places.  Not here in my town, but in the town I used to live in (15 minutes from here).  Lots of roof damage and car windows broken.

The Weekend!

In just 3 days I will see some people that I haven't seen in 3 years.  These people are very very very close family and I am beside myself with giddiness!

Since I've recently moved here, and since it's just Greg and I here, my place is pretty clean, there's not a lot that I need to do in that regard.  I just want my new home to look peaceful and comfy and inviting, as well as functional as to my creativity.

My order from Amazon of some frosted suede (faux) was supposed to be here on Thursday, but now they say from the 16th to the 20th, and if not I can get a refund.  Pffft.  I didn't mind waiting a week, but now it's all in limbo, and I don't like that.  I am so looking forward to trying this new idea, this is frustrating!

I have the A/C on, but looking forward to a good thunderstorm this afternoon.

Warning!  The next paragraph will be discussing bodily functions.

Waylon is doing well, his owner is still a bit edgy.  He's worried that Waylon hasn't pooped since he got home from the vet (wednesday).  The food that Waylon is eating now is a mucho better grade of food that he has been having, so his body is actually absorbing the food.  Plus he hadn't really kept much down for about a week.  He's acting fine and not acting like he needs to poop but can't, so I'm not too concerned.

With my company coming, and my mind busy with thinking about that, my creativity has taken a back seat for the moment.  Not a good time to start any new projects, but I do have a couple that I can finish up, so that will keep my hands happy.

A little later...my pkg did come today, in the mail! Now the decisions.  Which Critter?  Regular sized or mini?

Sunday Morning
The predicted thunderstorms did not appear, but we did get some rain early this morning.  It is a coolish day, probably won't need the A/C.  I'm gonna crank up some tunes and do a whole apt. tidy up.  Laundry tomorrow, and I'll be ready for my company!

Waylon Update ~  He did do what he needed to do, and what he did shows that he is completely recovering from whatever gut infection he had.

Oh, and Happy Father's Day to the good ones out there.

I did start on a  regular sized Dachshund yesterday, stitched but not stuffed yet.  I'll do that this evening, and hopefully share a pic with you tomorrow.

Until then,  Play Nice!  xxoo

Ta Da!

Now, you all know that I got my STUFF back a little bit ago, and along with it was my desk computer.  I have only been using my phone and an Amazon Fire since I left my Hell on Earth.

I hadn't set it up yet because I didn't quite understand how to get the wifi to the computer, but thanks to my super smart SIL, I now have my good old desk computer back up and running.  I am going to have to move a few things around here to make it flow more easily, but I am stoked and ready to do it.

There is something going on across the yard, in the duplex that faces me.  First there was some new furniture being delivered, but there has been a lot of activity and people over there.  I didn't see anyone move out from that unit, but I was never sure who actually lived there.  I don't like to neighbor much, because I like my privacy, but I am curious as to what is going on.  Not enough to go over and ask, though.  (my hunch is Hospice, but I don't know)

Tuesday.  I did get my living room rearranged, didn't need a longer ethernet cable, and I am quite comfortable in my new surroundings.

Greg had a hey-day during the moving around process.  He was all over everything that was being moved, he was in the closets, underfoot, and even skipped his morning nap!  It was fun, I had 70s music (now called "Oldies," ouch) playing and I was singing and organizing and it was a good day.  We both slept well that night.

Today I am going to figure out how to move all my important STUFF from my Fire to my computer.  That little piece of technology, while quite limited, was a lifesaver for me the last year...

Today feels like limbo for me.  Tomorrow is payday, so I will have errands to run, chores to do, so I'll be planning that all out.  I guess I am spontaneously relegated...

Fitting In

How in the world does a person do that?  Is it easy?

Or maybe a better question, how do you know if the people you pal around with are really your friend?

Here's where my concerns are.  Every morning as I am having my coffee, I check in with a few family members and friends.

I find myself wondering, though, what would happen if I didn't do that?  How many days would it take for them to notice that they haven't heard from me?

Or...are they keeping in touch because they might need something from me?

I want the people that I care about know that I care about them.  But I'm not sure that they care about me the same way.

In my previous life, there were people that I saw every day of the week.  We laughed together and drank beers together, and I thought we were all friends.  But since I have been gone, not one single one of them have reached out to me, to see if I was ok, what really happened, nothing.  Silence.  *insert crickets*

I understand that they were "his" friends first and foremost.  It jarred me, though.  Did they ever like me?

I probably shouldn't worry about this, and I really don't "worry," I'm just trying to figure out how to know.  Because now I feel pretty stoopid for caring so much about them.

Ok, enough about my insecurities.  They only rear their ugly heads once in a great while.

I made a thing...

I am liking doing these on the canvas.
This is on a printed canvas. Made for Mary.
It's her two orange cats, Buddy (on the bottom) and Boo.

My kids are coming for a visit from Germany next month.  I haven't squeezed them for about 3 years now, so every day I am getting more and more excited.  I have made something special for both the girls, and am working on a gift for the boy.

I am so excited for them to see my new place, and to meet Greg.  The oldest knows that "Papa" and I are no longer together, but I don't know if the younger ones know.  I will leave that up to their mother to tell them, and I will give them age appropriate answers to their questions.

He didn't deserve to be in their lives.

Ok, before I get too involved in thinking about "that," I will leave you for now.

Friday Again!

First of all, I can't believe that I didn't update all week!  I went to town on Wednesday for a few things, saw the boys.  I've been home, happy and content...but a little hungry...

While I appreciate the food pantry, last week's haul was pretty slim.  I got really happy watching them load up a bunch of fresh fruits, but sadly most of them had already past their prime.  The black grapes and pineapple were deluxe, though.

My sister and I are going again today.  We have the first two Fridays of the month.  It goes by alphabet, what letter your last name starts with.  Glad she and I are on the same day!  I will be thankful for and use as much as I can of what they are giving.  And as always, I will share some of mine with my boys.

I was just getting another cuppa and looked at the calendar...in just a couple of weeks I will have already been living here for 6 months!

Curtains for my windows is my next project.  I just had the thought that if I had enough fabric stashed away I could make my own, but I just don't think I have enough fabric that I would actually want curtains made out of.

I've been toying with a project idea in my head, and actually made a physical piece of what I've been thinking about.

This is one of my kittys, but instead of making a 3D piece, I've stitched it together and stitched it to a stretched canvas.  Keep in mind that this is the first piece (I've started another and attached the ears to the body before putting it on the canvas.  It has some dimension to it, and future pieces will probably incorporate more items in the background, or words, or something.  The possibilities are not endless, but there are a bunch of them!  '

Later...I've had a shower, done all the morning chores and then some, my house is straightened up enough I could invite someone over without worry, as if, ha ha ha ha!

I am happy to report that Good Boy Greg is healing nicely and feeling so much better!  He still takes his nap in the afternoon, but he's staying in the living room with me instead of the bedroom, which I take as a good sign.  He is also completely transitioned from clay litter to crystal, not Pretty Litter yet, but hopefully soon.

If you are going to get a kitten or a kitty, don't get the clay litter.  It is so gross.  And I clean the litter box twice a day.  It's the pee part, honestly.  And the Mess!

Anyway, I better get, gotta do a couple things before I get to Mary's.

Well, Shoot

Payday is not until next week.  I don't know why I have such a hard time remembering!  I thought it was the 3rd week of the month, but today the interwebs tell me it is the 4th week.  Now, I can plan accordingly.  I hope.

Darlin' Danielle sent me some moola, and I'll be fine.  I'd be fine if I hadn't had to pay the deposit for the moving company.  He's sitting over there with more than money than he can see over, and I'm begging cash from my kid.

I'd much rather be here.  My kid doesn't mind.

Got a couple loads of laundry going, in the dryer now.  Stoopid Laundry room, only 2 out of 4 washers are working, and only 2 out of 4 dryers are any good.  Plus we gotta pay!

In a senior community where our rent is federally assisted, already on an obviously fixed and scant income...they charge us a dollar per load.

Since I am not going anywhere else today, I am going to tackle my felt scraps.  I have ideas for every single one of them!

Progress!

Phew.  Still not finished.  Thoughts at the moment...

Get clear plastic totes with lids.
Put all of Mom's projects (unfinished) into one tote.  I'll save out a couple for my girls, and let Mary's have the rest, some of her grandkids might want to work on something, too.

I'm gonna need about 7 totes, according to my plan.  I can store some, but some will go to the garage at Young Son's home.

Ha, I sat here a minute looking at my collection of boxes that hold countless crafty items and sewing notions, I have plans for all of those.

I super cleaned some

But today I start taking photos of items I am going to sell.  It would be quicker to do it on FB Marketplace, but that involves either me getting out or giving multiple people directions to my house.  Double thumbs down.

But...I do have a couple of items that I won't ship, so they will be sold locally.  I will plan the meetups at a local place, with item already at least 1/2 paid for.

I will be listing on Mercari, if anyone is interested...I'm selling jeans for $10/pr plus shipping.  LL B Khaki's same price.  Sizes 10 - 12, In great condition!

My bed...ok, I've already talked about it, but oh my gosh...I used to go to sleep in the bed I had thinking about my old bed, never dreaming we'd ever sleep together again!

My bathroom is coming along,

I found that shower curtain on Amazon
$9.99!  Score!

Greg is very tired of all the boxes in the living room, and the items on top of the 'fridge.  They are def getting in the way of his zooming around this place all helter skelter and willy nilly.

From my front windows I can see my neighbor's backyard.  He has two raised garden beds, and works on them quite a bit.  Yesterday I saw a nice sized rabbit in his yard, kinda sniffing around the garden beds.

Rabbits gotta eat, too.

And the tree I thought was going to be purple blooms before the green leaves fooled me, no purple, just green.  I love this time of year!

I better get busy, my sis and niece are coming today.

Anticipation!

Ok, which did you think of, the ketchup commercial or Carly Simon?

All my stuff!  I keep thinking about "back then" and where all my things are...I lived in that house (not home) for 20 years, and can still see every nook and cranny in my head.  I know where everything of mine is.

Ah, but since he will be unsupervised by anyone on "my side," I will get what I get and I will be happy with what I get.  I really don't think he will keep anything of mine on purpose.

And there he'll be left with a great big house.  Empty of everything except the demons.

It's all his.  All of it.  He wins!

Kidding, of course.

I, myself, am the glorious, victorious winner!  The Queen of Everything has been restored!

Her Throne is small, as is her kingdom.  That's how she likes it.

TA DA!

I just playin', kinda.  I am the Queen Mother, my kids treat me very nicely and love me.

At this stage of my game, I could also be called a Dowager (right, Danielle?), which I really don't care for the sound of of the word, and the first definition does not fit at all, hopefully the second one does...

dow·a·ger
[ˈdouəjər]
NOUN
  1. a widow with a title or property derived from her late husband:
"the dowager duchess" · "the queen dowager"
    • INFORMAL
      a dignified elderly woman:
"a handsome dowager was standing in front of the mirror"

Or, a Crone, which I do like the sound of the word, but I had to search for the definition that fits what I mean...most of the defs were appearance descriptive, but I mean the "aspect" of what being this age is like...

crone

  (krōn)

n.
1. Derogatory An old woman considered to be ugly; a hag.
2. woman who is venerated for experience, judgment, and wisdom.

I'll take 2 for the win.

Well, that was a nice distraction.  I also did my morning chores, which I will probably detail in a later blog, because I know you are dying to know.  *insert saracastic tone here*

I remembered that I had a brand new pair of Skecher sneakers over there in my closet, I hope they make it here.  He bought them, so it's iffy.  Not a big deal.  (Random thought)

So, I'll close for now and work on some burnings.

I made this one for my Aunt.
She's a good, Christian woman,
and she makes beautiful quilts.

If it ain't broke...

A girl at DG wants me to take a cat from one of the employees there.  Not steal it, just re-home it, and I refuse.  She says, "yeah, but Greg needs someone to play with."

No.  If he wants to play, I will play with him.  He has his ways let me know that's what he wants and we will run willy nilly around this place with the wand toy, or we'll throw a toy behind the toy box, we will play.

She says, "Yeah, but what about when you are gone?  He'll be lonely."

I am pretty much home 24/7.  If I have to go anywhere, I go do what I need to do then I come back home, to my cat.  And I am certain to be home before dark, so my window of being gone is brief.  A "cat nap" amount of time for him.

I brought Greg into my life for us to be buds to each other.  As much as I love animals, I'm not a rescue unit.  I am a single woman, with one cat.  We are learning each other, both of us are smart and learning quickly, and we enjoy hanging out like we do.  That's it.

Now, if a cat happens to choose me/us, that's a whole 'nother story.

Random

I decided on Friday that I am officially not going to wear makeup anymore.  I haven't, really, for over a year now, but always thought that maybe if I was doing something special I might, but no.

Instead I am going to invest what I would spend on makeup on creams that firm this and that on my face.  I'll still have what I lovingly refer to as laugh lines, they just hopefully won't be so deep, and that puffiness under my eyes that I do not refer to in any type of loving way whatsoever, should tighten up a bit.

Of course, I will have to wait until payday to start this plan of action.  Already have 1 cream lined up, in a cart, ready to go.

I will call this version  the New Old Real but Improved Me.

Gad, sometimes I think too much.  Side effect, what can I say?

I did not wake up to an alarm this morning, but did naturally wake up at 7:58 am.

Tomorrow I actually have plans to have lunch with my darling daughter's husband's Aunt.  She's cool, and I haven't seen her since the kids left 3 years ago (how can it be that long ago?) so I sent her a "hey how you doin'" type of message, and from there we're meeting for lunch.

My son-in-law has such an interesting family, and I get along with most of them.  Of course, as in all families, there is that one or two that are balancing on the tips of the branches, really wanting to be an important part of the flock, but their crazy squawking won't allow it.  All the others are nice to them in their own ways, but everyone knows, even the squawkers know, but they just can't help it.  Bless their beaks.

Today is going to be another warm day in February.  I gathered quarters yesterday, so I'll be doing a couple loads of laundry this afternoon.

I try not to do it on Mondays or Tuesdays because the landlord is in his office on those days, and his office is connected to the laundry room, which causes it to be a little steamy in there, but I'll leave a door open since it's nice.  I need to fill out a work order, too.  It's gross, but my shower drain needs a good snakin'.

Not a fan of standing in ankle deep water while I shower.

Later that same morning, just turned noon...

My laundry is in the dryer, I was able to use the big washer and the big dryer, plus the dryer was warm from the last cycle, so that's a plus.  I'm back at my apt, trolley loaded for the dumpster, then I'll pick up my mail, grab my laundry and be home.  I have a couple of windows open, as it's 64 degrees right here right now.  Looking forward to setting up a bird feeder outside Greg's window.

Besides going out to lunch tomorrow, I have zero plans for getting out in the world for the next few days.  Rain on Wednesday, and while still warm for February, the rest of the week will be chilly outside.  But my sweats will be clean, and my really cool socks will be, too.  I have one pair of really cool socks, and the underwear situation is not great.  I have other socks and I do have underwear, it's just time for some freshin' up.

Ain't nothing like a brand new pair of undies, though, right?

I guess I better close for now.  I will have done enough chores after I get my clothing put away to warrant a little "me time."

P.S.  Greg is amazed by the open window.  He's so smart!

Greg, and other thoughts

Greg, after seemingly healing from his food allergy (somewhat self diagnosed), has been a maniac for the past few days.

My place is small, but it can be traveled in a circle, at an amazing kitty speed, including a leap from the floor to the top of the fridge.

He is like a toddler, I have to constantly move any small, moveable objects on any flat surface before he casually/intentionally knocks them to the floor.  With this cheap, wood looking flooring and no rugs yet, even a pen makes a bigger noise than it should.

And dangly things...How can I have something like the shade opening wand dangling and him not play with it?

All he's doing is being a cat, and I get that he's a young one and feeling good and that makes me happy.  But that doesn't mean he's not getting some CBD cat treats.  Never too young to learn the art of being mellow.

Next Day:

The boys came over and moved a med cabinet for me.  It involved a dril, which I do not have yet.

They got to meet Greg, and he was cool with them.  I foresee a kitten in their very near future.

Greg's really bouncing back from his allergy, his fur is so soft!  And growing in at the base of his tail, he's just about full fledged Greg again!

I'll be going to my sister's today, it's Food Pantry Day!  We keep so much food from going to waste!  There is way too much for just one person, so she shares with her kids and I share with mine.  Everybody wins.

These are the days I love my little trolley.  I can't wait to get/make a liner for it.  Maybe someday soon I will have my sewing machine here!

I was chatting with some old friends in a crafty group I belong to, and I believe they are going to send me some scrappy scraps I could use on my Critters.  I am excited about that.

I also would like to covet all your selvedge.  Please cut it 1/4" above the selvedge itself.  I will pay you back for the postage, rounded up to the next dollar.  TIA

Gotta run, see you soon!

Play Nice!  xxoo
